Conversation at the park at sunset:
5yo: Daddy, do animals come out at night?
Dad: Yes. Lots of animals.
5yo: Like what?
Dad: Like raccoons.
5yo: Oh…how about coyotes?
Dad: Yup, those too.
5yo: If we saw one here in the park would you protect me?
Dad: Definitely.
5yo: Oh good. If it tries to eat you I can run to the car.
I’m sure my youngest didn’t really want me to be eaten by Coyotes. Still, I couldn’t help thinking she felt it was my duty as her father to act as bait. She’s probably right. What’s the latest memorable kid conversation you had with your child?
