Years ago, kids didn’t have the option to play video games. Instead, they played with super hero action figures and let their imaginations run wild. In the present, these action figures have evolved more into collectibles – a way for older fans to express appreciation for the genre as works of art. Recognizing a financially lucrative trend, Marvel, DC and others have annually produced action figures reflecting fan favorites from comic books, television, and film. This year’s Fall and Winter DC Collectibles line up taps into Batman: The Animated Series and DC Icons.
Produced in the early 1990s, Batman: The Animated Series quickly became a fan favorite. The compelling story lines, unique dark atmospheric visual style and stellar voice acting courtesy of Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamill as the Joker, created a memorable television series fans still point to today as the best incarnation of Batman ever produced on screen. It’s no wonder collectors clamor to own a piece of memorabilia honoring the show.
Available starting in October and November 2016, new DC collectibles for Batman: The Animated Series will be released. Our personal favorites include Batman, Robin and the deluxe Batmobile. Other figures being released are from the DC Icon series such as The Joker, Firestorm, and John Stewart. You can check out exact availability at the DC Entertainment store. Looking ahead to 2017, DC Collectibles will be offering the latest action figures from the recently released DC Rebirth comic book series. Given the abundance of super hero comics, television series, and movies being produced, it’s a fantastic time to be a fan.
