Female Superhero movies such as the upcoming Disney Marvel Studios release of Captain Marvel aims to change the dynamic in the traditionally male-dominated action genre. It’s not surprising to see that Disney has also tapped into one of its classic icons, Mary Poppins, a hero in her own right, in the highly anticipated sequel, Mary Poppins Returns. Both films feature strong female leads with a broad appeal to audiences of all ages. The first trailers for each movie will only add to the hype.

Captain Marvel
Based in the 1990s, Captain Marvel will be a nostalgic throwback for many as well as an intriguing look into the past of key characters in the Avengers universe.
Mary Poppins Returns
Rather than a re-make, Disney has chosen to continue the story of Mary Poppins based on the original film. We love that Disney made the creative choice to include 2D hand-drawn animation in this iteration rather than 3D CGI. The one and only Dick Van Dyke returns 54 years later to embark on another magical adventure.
