The iconic 1975 blockbuster movie JAWS directed by Steven Spielberg represented not only a memorable film but quite possibly a generational traumatic experience. Based on the 1974 novel by Peter Benchley, kids through adults were captivated by the terrors of the sea. And now thanks to a phenomenal fan-submitted Jaws set at LEGO Ideas, Police Chief Brody (Roy Scheider), Ichthyologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss), and grizzled ship captain Quint (Robert Shaw) of the Orca can engage in a battle with a giant, man-eating menace in your very own home.
What makes this Jaws–inspired submission at LEGO Ideas truly stand out is the boat, the Orca. This LEGO-based recreation captures the overall look of the ship as well as the finer details. The designer continues to refine the build based on member feedback. This set will only improve as more fans see it. As the 50th anniversary of JAWS approaches, collectors will undoubtedly want to partake in the nostalgia which bodes well for this set to get the green light by LEGO.
This set will include ship (the Orca), the great white shark which runs the length of the Orca, and the crew.
You can call me Bruce.
“You’re gonna need a bigger boat.” – Police Chief Brody
“Back home, we get a taxidermy man, he’s gonna have a heart attack when he sees what I brung him!” – Captain Quint
The crew. “Boys, oh boys! I think he’s come back for his noon feeding.” – Matt Hooper
What do you think of this LEGO Idea? Too traumatic for us land dwellers or the perfect tribute to an enduring cinema classic?
