The Apple iPhone SE is dead. Or is it? Enter the Apple iPhone 16e. The wait for Apple’s latest budget iPhone release is over. The rumors had been flying around for several years about what the final product might be. Yet considering Apple’s penchant to iterate in a way that consolidates their product line, the 16e makes sense.
Here’s a rundown of the specifications:
- Touch ID is dead and the home button is gone.
- A Face ID-enabled notch is new default for the 16e and Dynamic Island remains for the iPhone flagship models.
- The phone is powered by the A18 chipset, the same chip as the iPhone 16.
- Apple’s AI aka Apple Intelligence will be available on the 16e.
- Storage starts at 128gb
- 48-megapixel rear camera
- Action Button
- Support for wireless charging and a water-resistant IP rating
- 6.1-inch OLED display
- Includes a modem developed by Apple
But what about price?
If you consider what a capable device one gets with 16e compared to the iPhone 16, a starting price of $599 for a 16e is actually not a bad deal. Yet it is a significant price hike from the 2022 SE which was $429.
The bottomline? A bump in base storage + modern design = a winner
The iPhone 16e reveal is the first of the tech gear we were looking forward to seeing released in 2025. Can’t wait to see the rest! What’s on your wish list?
