To date, finding the missing manual on how to be a Dad has remained elusive. As most fathers will tell you, fatherhood is a work in progress. In modern family life, that includes participating in domestic duties at home. Unlike the stereotypes of the past, Dads are more inclined to help out doing chores. Yet for me, I’m always in search of tools to assist me in becoming more efficient. After all, raising young children can be maddening at times. A messy home fuels the anarchy. Streamlining certain chores provides me the opportunity to be a more engaged Dad. Sometimes I need a quick action plan to handle clean ups. That’s what the Swiffer Effect is all about.
The good folks at Swiffer asked CuteMonster.com to try out their Swiffer WetJet. Being an owner of the original Swiffer I was intrigued. I needed a quicker way to mop the floor that was less cumbersome and more efficient. Plus the Swiffer WetJet looked kind of fun to operate which to me was a key factor. If you can find enjoyment doing a chore then it no longer feels tedious. Plus my kids pick up on my body language. If they see me happily completing a housekeeping task they’ll more than likely want to participate themselves in the future. The net result? More free time for yours truly, developing responsible kids, and a clean home.
I found the set up of the Swiffer WetJet to be extremely simple. You’ll need 4 AA batteries for the spray function to work. Adding the Swiffer WetJet cleaning solution was kind of neat in that you just connect the bottle to the Swiff WetJet much like docking a supply ship to a space station. You’ll also need to attach a specific Swiffer WetJet cleaning pad to the base of the Swiffer WetJet which you can dispose of once the job has been completed. I made a quick demonstration video in which you can see the Swiffer WetJet in action.
Overall I came away impressed with the product. The Swiffer WetJet starter kit will run you approximately $20. Considering the ease of use, the light weight, and the inherent fun factor, the Swiffer WetJet provides a useful return on the initial investment.
As mentioned previously, Dads pitching in with chores has become the norm. Below are some facts and figures highlighting the new norm:
