Movie trailers are dropping like holiday bargains in December. The 1980s loom large in upcoming movies as the setting as well as being alluded to by modern days heroes. Wonder Woman 1984 picks up with our hero based years later after her debut during World War in 1918. Ghostbusters: Afterlife continues the franchise with a 21st century generation of kids who were related to the original 1980s Ghostbuster team. Building off the popularity of the Netflix series, Stranger Things, the movie aims to incorporate teenage high jinks along with the supernatural genre.

Wonder Woman (2017) demonstrated the vast audience appeal of a female-led super hero movie. Critically acclaimed as well as fan approved, the box office hit was destined for a sequel. Enter Wonder Woman 1984. The director, Patty Jenkins, claims the film is more of standalone movie rather than a continuation of the first story. Still, there will be returning cast members (i.e. Steve Trevor) from the first movie so how connected or not connected it will be remains to be determined.

The original Ghostbusters (1984) movie is the most beloved of the franchise. The 2016 reboot was a critical dud yet the popularity of the original movie endures. It’s no surprise Sony Pictures has designs on reigniting the excitement. Casting one of the members of the Stranger Things crew in a leading role will certainly garner attention.
