Batman is an iconic figure in pop culture. His costume’s look has changed throughout the years. Given the deep generational DC fan connection with the dark knight, each comic book iteration of the suit faced scrutiny. Since debuting on the big screen in Tim Burton’s “Batman,” so too has the movie versions. Director Matt Reeves recently shared the first look at Robert Pattison’s batsuit in “The Batman (2021)” test footage. Suffice to say, the reveal sparked a reaction.

Meet your new caped crusader!
My first impression was this costume evoked a mash up of the Night Owl and Batman Arkham suit. Reportedly the movie’s story line takes place during the 2nd year of Batman’s career. If sequels are to follow, expect further revisions. What’s clear is director Mat Reeves plans to give the world a decidedly new take.
