It’s Cindo de Mayo, a day of celebration for Mexican Americans commemorating the defeat of French forces in the Battle of Puebla in 1862. What’s more, the defeat may have had a direct impact on turning the tide in the American Civil War. Today’s celebrations consist of good friends, great food, and dancing. I’d like to share a video of my own little dancer’s interpretive dance in honor of this special day.

CuteMonster Art Wednesday #7

The illustration above was inspired by my experience as a Dad battling the flu while caring for my children. Prior to having kids in my life, I could take a sick day to rest and recuperate. Yet the rules change as a parent. I realized I needed to drastically alter my approach if I planned to regain my health in a reasonable time frame which prompted me to write the article “Sick Days Gone Forever”.

The Chevy Volt represents GM’s highly scrutinized entry into this emerging market. Watch the video for some highlights of the “gee whiz” tech available to the driver.

Bronx Zoo

It really is all happening at The Bronx Zoo. Kids of all ages gravitate towards the wildlife park every day to visit thousands of species in one of the United States largest zoos located in the heart of the Bronx in New York City. In the last 11 years there has been a major transformation to the zoo’s facilities as well as the habitats of the animals. No longer are some of the larger species enclosed in cages. Instead they’ve been given room to roam freely (well, almost, don’t worry).

As he raced down the sidewalk furiously pedaling away on his two wheeled steed, the adjacent grass rippled in his wake. Little did he realize he’d get his wish.
Children of Japan

As the days have passed and the images of the continued suffering of the people of Japan have flashed before our eyes in the United States, I can’t help but wonder how the children of Japan are being impacted throughout this catastrophe. A child’s perception of the world, especially young children thrust into a traumatic situation, is exponentially vivid and visceral. Young kids do not possess the mental fortitude to comprehend such devastation. Instead, their experience may become internalized and manifest nightmares for years to come. These children will require constant attention and reassurance in order to thrive in the future.
