“Space, the final frontier…” Ever since I heard those words spoken by Captain Kirk via the television series Star Trek, I’ve been captivated by the idea of space travel. Consequently, I dreamed of becoming an Astronaut. Years later, having developed a dislike for airplane travel, I realized that space travel most likely was not a reasonable career pursuit. Nonetheless, I’ve still admired the courage of the brave men and women who undertake missions to explore the universe. What’s more, unlike the fictional Star Trek, space exploration is very much in its infancy. The adventure has just begun.
Happy Birthday to Me

Happy Birthday to me. Another year officially logged into the history of my existence on planet earth. I awoke to a sense of disbelief that I’ve completed yet another full 365 day journey around the Sun. My sense of time, you see, became disjointed once I became a parent. As a parent of young children though, the challenge lies in how to keep your active kids entertained indoors when the heat’s too extreme outside. They’re bound to get cranky due to boredom unless you engage them with compelling activities. Therefore I’ve come up with a list of ideas to diminish the possibility of the kids plunging into cabin fever meltdown.

Recently, I was contacted by Avery/Gotham of the Penguin Group USA to give my readers the chance to win a free copy of the Geek Dad book. I’ve always been a fan of Wired Magazine’s GeekDad blog. Consequently when one of the writers, Ken Denmead, decided to compile a book of projects for Dads and kids to share that incorporated the fun aspects of science and well, geekiness, I took notice.
