Marvel vampire movie, “Morbius”, just released its first trailer. You meant Blade, right? Not quite. It’s Morbius. Who? You know, Morbius, a one time villain and part-time anti-hero from the Spider-verse. Did I mention that Jared Leto is playing the lead role? Wait. It will be fine. I know his creative interpretation of the Joker in “Suicide Squad” left fans flat. But before casting judgement on his latest efforts, take a look at this just released teaser trailer.

Sony Studios aims to capitalize on expanding its movie rights to all things Spider-man. That includes an expansive list of villains and assorted characters dating back to 1962. It’s not clear yet how the upcoming origin story of “Morbius” will depict the complex living vampire character. When he first debuted in “The Amazing Spider-man” Issue #101, Morbius was a blood-sucking, tragic fiend. Perhaps “Venom” (2018) might offer the most insight to Sony Studios’ plans. At the very least, fans can expect Tom Holland’s Spider-man to enter the fray in future adventures.
Still uncertain? I’m willing to give Sony Studios the benefit of the doubt. Why? They gave us the award-winning “Spider-man: Enter the Spiderverse.” As Stan Lee once said, “Welcome true believers!”
