The opening weekend of The Marvels was mediocre at best for a Marvel Studios release. Media outlets had set up the film for box office failure with numerous articles about “superhero movies fatigue.” Admittedly, I was reluctant to head to a movie theater and plunk down $15 with such predetermined low expectations. But I had three hours free, an excellent movie theater close by, and my choice of seating at my desired viewing time.
