In this installment of fun videos from the web, we’ve stumbled upon a mixture of nostalgia and the future in the form of Sea Monsters and adventures in space! Buckle your seat belts and prepare for the return of Sigmund and the Sea Monsters and the next episode of Star Wars.
I first learned about Mario Marchese aka Mario the Magician in 2012. Kal Toth, a college buddy of mine who also happens to be a filmmaker told me about a short film he created entitled “Building Magic”. Based upon the successful response to the short, a 2013 Kickstarter campaign secured funding to extend “Building Magic” into a feature length film expected to be ready for the film festival circuit in early 2014. I had the opportunity to catch up with Mario in an interview that touches upon life, fatherhood, and magic.
I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t understand the hype attributed to kids show “Yo Gabba Gabba”. After all, the costumed characters seemed like a retro throw back to the psychedelic Sid and Marty Kroft children’s shows of the 1970s such as “H.R. PuffnStuff” or “Sigmund and The Sea-monsters”. Despite my own offspring liking “Yo Gabba Gabba” which they demonstrated with their giggle ladened dancing, I paid no mind to it. As fate would have it, this past weekend I was given complimentary tickets to review the “Yo Gabba Gabba Live!” touring show. Let’s just say it’s difficult to not crack a smile when your kids are moving and grooving to wiggle, wiggle, wiggle.
