As a child, I was fascinated with motorcycles. The source of my interest could be traced to a daredevil named Evil Knievel. He engaged in amazingly wild motorcycle stunts jumping over countless numbers of cars, fountains, through walls of flames, and more. The man broke just about every bone in his body in his career and yet he was remarkably resilient. I remember loving the associated toys too. Particularly a motorcycle that you cranked up to speed then released with reckless abandon. There wasn’t much in the way of actually controlling the bike, but at least you could set up a stunt ahead of time, point the bike in the right direction, and hope it would work. Fast forward to the present, Wicked Cool Toys sent me an RC motorcycle named Xtreme Cycle Moto-Cam to review.

In 2011, Activision’s Skylanders gaming franchise took the family video game category by storm. Kids were obsessed with their unique and highly collectible toys-to-life. Each new iteration of their games featured a new wave of interactive figures. In addition, each game title evolved providing innovative game play as well as an expansion of the franchise’s universe. As a player you may have navigated a submersible underwater vehicle, or taken flight high in the clouds, or even raced furiously against opponents around an obstacle-laden track. For 2016, Skylanders Imaginators gives players the power to unleash their imagination. In short, you can custom design your own in-game player from head to toe.

First Official Trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming

We know what you’re thinking about Spider-Man: Homecoming. “Another Spider-Man reboot?” And you’d be right to feel that way. After all, too much of a good thing can become toxic. Yet given that this iteration of Spider-Man is being handled by Marvel itself rather than the good folks at SONY, therein lies the creative difference. We had a fantastic glimpse of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Webhead in Captain America: Civil War. Watching the first official trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming will seal the deal. We’re all in.

In a week that focused on the seedier side of politics, men who are Dads might have missed a positive tidbit of progress in the United States. On Friday, October 7, 2016, President Obama signed into law the Babies Act. What’s that you may ask? It’s a law that ensures all restrooms for women and men in federal buildings will now have places to change babies. Perhaps this signals the paradigm shift towards gender parity has begun to take root. At the very least, men being able to change their own baby’s diaper in a public restroom is a good thing.

These words of dialogue from Star Wars: The Force Awakens could easily apply to the 2016 Presidential Election campaign. The level of tension found on social media platforms such as Facebook has reached toxic levels. Certainly, heated debates are part of the norm during an election year. Yet volatile circumstances have created a societal maelstrom. Both major party candidates are greatly disliked. Acts of Terrorism have become a mainstay in the daily news cycle. Racial tensions continue to foster division and distrust. And lastly, the new school year has begun. Honestly, if you’re a parent, that’s the top story. Being the new kid at school is no joke.
