A new Marvel movie trailer for Captain America: Civil War arrived to kick off Thanksgiving Day in 2015. The timing of the release couldn’t be better. Every year millions of Americans endure internal family strife in one form or another during the holiday season. Still, hope springs eternal. Movie fans can’t help feeling that despite the differences their onscreen heroes may have, they’ll emerge a more unified bunch in the end.

As a Dad, my children have awakened the idea of connectivity within me. As a husband, my wife reminds me that even in times of heightened stress, we need not be alone in our struggles. That we walk the path together. For families, Thanksgiving serves as familiar reminder to turn off the daily distractions and focus on strengthening the foundation. In the spirit of the holiday, I’ve put together a list in no particular order of what I’m thankful for this past year.
