It was the last day of the 2011 New York Comic Con. A palpable energy filled the show room floor as both visitors and exhibitors alike hurried to complete their business before the convention came to a close. I caught up with comic book writer and novelist Keith DeCandido to interview him about the state of comic books in the 21st century, the impact of comic books on literacy, and an overview of his current projects.

2011 New York Comic Con : Day 3

On my third day at the 2011 New York Comic Con, I went to the Press room to interview Ken Denmead, the Editor-in-Chief of Wired.com/geekdad, to discuss geek culture, the history of Geek Dad, the third Geek Dad book, and details about the planned Geek Dad movie.
2011 New York Comic Con : Day 2

My second day at the 2011 New York Comic con was radically different from the first. I arrived mid-afternoon to attend a series of panels rather than roam the main show floor. 2011 New York Comic Con : Day 1

I had gotten my first taste of a Comic Con by just missing the one that took place in San Diego this past July. Seeing the images from the event captivated my attention laying the groundwork for a future trip in 2012. Indeed, I was perfectly content with my plan until a friend of mine mentioned the New York Comic Con that’s held every year in the Fall. This commonly known fact had inexplicably escaped me my entire life. “Not again” I thought. I opted to register as a member of the press in order to get a more in depth experience. Today was day 1 of the 2011 New York Comic Con.
