“I am Batman” are the words that strike fear in criminal hearts. They belong to the Dark Knight– a superhero possessing no super powers other than determination, intellect, physical training, and courage. I am Batman is also the title of a wonderful kid’s book by author Brad Meltzer and illustrator Christopher Eliopoulos.

Batman has always held a special place in comic book fans’ hearts. He has no superpowers yet may be arguably the greatest superhero ever. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Dark Knight. To celebrate, DC Entertainment is partnering with thousands of comic book stores nationwide for “Batman Day” on Wednesday, July 23, 2014.

2011 New York Comic Con : Day 4

It was the last day of the 2011 New York Comic Con. A palpable energy filled the show room floor as both visitors and exhibitors alike hurried to complete their business before the convention came to a close. I caught up with comic book writer and novelist Keith DeCandido to interview him about the state of comic books in the 21st century, the impact of comic books on literacy, and an overview of his current projects.
Free Comic Book Day 10th anniversary

Today, May 7, 2011 marks the 10th anniversary of Free Comic Book Day which has been held on the first Saturday of May every year for the last 10 years. Participating local comic book stores give away a free comic book to anyone attending the event. Comic books are an exceptional way to introduce young children to the joys of reading. My Spidey Sense had been tingling all night. Suddenly I leapt backward completing a humanly impossible acrobatic feat while landing hard against the wall. The floor where I last stood had been crushed to rubble. Slightly stunned from the impact, my eyes burned from the dust filled smoke as I attempted to get a glance at my attacker. “Focus Spidey.” I could barely make out his silhouette. “No, it can’t be. He was supposed to be dead.”
